It seems that Fairy Ring is much more noticeable at this time of year. The Fairly Ring fungus must release early nutrients to the soil. The turf within that zone is able to green up much quicker than the other parts of the lawn.
In fact I saw a lawn while driving where the grass that was growing was almost 12 inches high and very green and vigorous.
Fairy rings usually become less noticeable if and when the rest of the lawn is fertilized. The rest of the lawn will turn green also. Then the "ring" all but disappears.
